What is Isis, and how is it related to my wireless service provider?
Isis is a joint venture between AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless. The venture is building the Isis Mobile Commerce Platform™, a mobile commerce platform that will fundamentally transform how people shop, pay and save.
Isis brings together leading banks, payment networks, merchants and wireless service providers to create an open mobile payment and commerce system. Our goal is to create a widely accepted, consumer-friendly mobile wallet. The Isis Mobile Wallet can store payment cards, offers and loyalty cards in your Isis Ready® phone and transmit payment, offer and loyalty information to the payment terminal at participating merchant locations using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.
What is the Isis Mobile Wallet?
The Isis Mobile Wallet is an app that transforms select smartphones into mobile wallets, providing storage for payment cards, loyalty cards and offers.
How do I get the Isis Mobile Wallet on my phone?
To use the Isis Mobile Wallet, Android™ users need two things:
- An Isis Ready smartphone that has NFC, a technology that lets your phone transmit data to the payment terminal at checkout.
- An enhanced SIM card with a Secure Element designed to store and protect your payment information.
You can get both of these from your local AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon Wireless store. Then you simply download and install the Isis Mobile Wallet app from the Google Play™ Store app.
To use the Isis Mobile Wallet on select iPhone® models, you'll need an Isis Ready case containing a Near Field Communication (NFC) antenna. You can buy an Isis Ready case online, or from select AT&T and Verizon Wireless stores. Then you simply download and install the Isis Mobile Wallet app from the App Store℠.

Does it cost anything to use the Isis Mobile Wallet?
The Isis Mobile Wallet is free to download. You do not need to be connected to your wireless service to make an NFC payment using your Isis Mobile Wallet. However, you will need wireless carrier service for some other Wallet actions, including necessary software updates, and additional data charges may apply based on your data plan and service provider's offering. For use of your payment cards, your payment card issuer's terms and conditions will apply.
What is NFC?
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a short-range wireless technology that allows two devices to exchange information quickly and conveniently at close proximity. The range of NFC is typically less than 4 centimeters.
The Wallet uses NFC to transmit payment by tapping your phone to a contactless payment terminal.
What is the "Secure Element"?
The Secure Element is a dedicated hardware component included with your smartphone (or appropriate accessory), and is used to store your payment card information. The Secure Element operates independently from the rest of your phone, and limits access to authorized applications like the Isis Mobile Wallet.
How do I pay with the Isis Mobile Wallet?
Using the Isis Mobile Wallet is simple. As the cashier rings up your purchase, open up the Isis Mobile Wallet app and enter your PIN. Select the payment card you want to use, then hold the back of your phone over the Contactless Symbol on the terminal. Your Wallet will transmit payment details via Near Field Communication (NFC). Confirm that your payment is received on the terminal or with the cashier.

When will other cards be available on the Isis Mobile Wallet?
We are working with various partners to add new payment cards to the Wallet, and we will continue to announce new payment cards that can be stored in the Wallet as they become available.
What happens if I lose my phone? How safe is my Isis Mobile Wallet?
The Isis Mobile Wallet is PIN-protected to limit unauthorized access to your Wallet. If your phone is lost or stolen, one call to your wireless carrier or visit to our website can freeze your Wallet, disabling your payment cards within the Wallet.
If your phone is lost or stolen, you should also contact the issuing bank for each of your payment cards in the Isis Mobile Wallet as may be required by the respective banks' service terms and conditions. If your phone is found, another call to your wireless carrier or visit to paywithisis.com can reactivate your Wallet, although you will need to contact directly any issuing bank who suspended a payment card in order to have a replacement card loaded in your Wallet.
How does the Isis Mobile Wallet protect my payment credentials?
Your payment card credentials are stored in a special chip known as the Secure Element contained within your Isis Ready smartphone (or appropriate accessory). The Secure Element is isolated from your phone's main operating system and hardware, and is designed to allow access to authorized programs, like the Isis Mobile Wallet, to initiate a transaction. The Wallet is accessed by a user-selected 4 digit PIN, adding another layer of protection. Additionally, a single call to your wireless carrier or visit to our website can freeze your Wallet, disabling your payment cards within the Wallet.
If the phone or its Secure Element is lost or stolen, protect your information by calling your wireless carrier immediately to freeze the Wallet and stop wireless service to the phone, and contacting the banks that issued your payment cards.
Does Isis know what I buy using the Isis Mobile Wallet?
Neither Isis nor your mobile carrier tracks the specific items you purchase.
What can I do to protect my Isis Mobile Wallet?
To reduce the risk of others accessing your Wallet:
- Create a password that includes a minimum of 8 characters with at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter and 1 number. Please do not include special characters (e.g., &, >, *, $, @).
- Be sure to set a security question and answer.
- Never share your PIN, password or security question and answer with anyone.
If you receive a call or email that appears to come from Isis that requests your email address, email password, social security number or other personal information do not reply to it and do not provide your account information or password. Please note, Isis does not call or send emails to request personal account or payment card information. Here are some additional safety tips:
- Be aware that email headers can be forged easily. The posing sender may not be the real sender.
- Avoid filling out forms sent via email.
- Do not click on links from email senders you don’t know.
- Remember that threats can also occur on mobile devices. Consider downloading a mobile security app to your phone to protect your device against viruses, malware and spyware.
What if I want to move my Isis Mobile Wallet to a new phone?
You can move your Isis Mobile Wallet to a new NFC-enabled phone with the same operating system and Secure Element (the special chip inside the phone that stores your payment card data). If you are replacing a lost or stolen phone, or your new phone is not compatible with your old phone's operating system or Secure Element, it's fast and easy to set up a new Wallet on your new phone with your mobile carrier's help. If you switch mobile carriers, you will need to set up a new Wallet.
How do I find offers?

You can load loyalty cards from participating merchants listed in the directory and present the loyalty card as part of a point-of-sale transaction. You can edit or remove loyalty cards in your Wallet at any time.
What is a SmartTap transaction?
